Dr. Ketan Kotecha is a globally celebrated researcher and educator in artificial intelligence, deep learning, computer algorithms, and machine learning. An alumnus of IIT Bombay, he is recognized among the top 2% of scientists worldwide, a distinction awarded by Stanford University. With an illustrious career spanning over three decades, Dr. Kotecha has left an indelible mark on AI research, evidenced by 200+ SCI-indexed publications, 22 patents, and over 15,864 citations.
A dedicated mentor, Dr. Kotecha has guided 25 PhD scholars, advancing AI research across diverse domains. He has grabbed more than 15+ research fundings amounts to over INR 15 crores from prestigious national and international organizations. He actively collaborates with top-tier global universities, including Arizona State University USA, Brunel University UK, Aston University UK, Swinburne University Australia, and the University of Milan, Italy. His expertise has earned him invitations to deliver lectures at over 25 esteemed institutions, such as Imperial College London, Cambridge University, and RUDN University in Russia. Further recognition of his contributions includes appointments as Visiting Research Professor at Aston University (UK) and Swinburne University (Australia), as well as Visiting Professor at UCSI in Malaysia.
Dr. Kotecha’s influence extends beyond academia. As Dean of Engineering at Nirma University for seven years and Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat’s largest university for three years, he spearheaded transformative changes. Currently, as Dean of Faculty at Symbiosis International University, he has secured substantial funding for groundbreaking initiatives, including the INR 30 crore Bajaj Engineering Skills Training Centre and a cutting-edge INR 50 lakh 5G use-case lab in AI telemedicine. Recently, established Maker lab which is sponsored by Infosys and IDEA lab which is sponsored by AICTE at Symbiosis Institute of Technology. He also worked as CEO of Technology business incubator sponsored by DST for 3 years. He is founding Head of Symbiosis Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence.
Bridging academia and industry, Dr. Kotecha has provided consultancy for leading organizations like Philips, Avegen UK, ArcOne USA, and Dassault Systems. His visionary leadership, innovative research, and commitment to applied artificial intelligence continue to drive advancements, inspire critical thinking, and shape the global future of education and technology.
Dr. Rahee Walambe, Associate Faculty, SCAAI
Dr. Rahee Walambe is an Associate Professor at SIT
Dr. Rahee Walambe is an accomplished researcher and academic specializing in Artificial Intelligence, with core expertise in responsible and ethical AI, cognitive systems, and AI applications in healthcare and robotics. She currently serves as an Associate Professor at the Symbiosis Institute of Technology and Associate Research Faculty at Symbiosis Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence (SCAAI), where she contributes to research leadership and interdisciplinary education.
She earned her PhD in Probabilistic Robotics from Lancaster University, UK, where her work focused on cutting-edge topics such as reinforcement learning and safety in robotics. Her research is widely recognized, with over 60 publications in top-tier international journals, including IEEE, Elsevier, and Springer and impressive conference publications in top-tier conferences such as CVPR, ICCV and IEEE SFG.
Dr. Walambe has been a driving force in applied AI initiatives at SCAAI, leading, managing and contributing to major research projects, including those funded by the Government of India (MeitY, DST, ACME and MHRD) as well as consultancy projects where she has helped shape research in various domains.
An active mentor and collaborator, she regularly guides students and early-career researchers and works closely with various international and national academic partners. She is also actively involved in conducting various training and workshops in AI.

Dr.Shruti Patil, Director, Symbiosis Artificial Intelligence Institute (SAII)

Dr.Shruti Patil is an enthusiastic academician and an avid researcher with a contagious positive attitude. She is known as a keen observer who is fiercely creative, loves to take on the challenges and follow the unexplored path. She has been an industry professional in the past, currently associated with Symbiosis Institute of Technology as an Associate Professor and with SCAAI as a research associate. She has expertise in applying innovative technology solutions to real world problems. Her research areas include applied artificial intelligence, natural language processing, acoustic AI, adversarial machine learning, data privacy, digital twin applications, GANS, multimodal data analysis. She is currently working in the application domains of healthcare, sentiment analysis, emotion detection and machine simulation via which she is also guiding several UG, PG and PhD students as a domain expert. She has published research articles in reputed international conferences and Scopus/ web of science indexed journals, books. Dr Shruti has also been invited to deliver talks related with her expertise in various prestigious institutions.

Dr. Satish Kumar, Associate Faculty, SCAAI
Dr. Satish Kumar is working as a Professor at SIT.
Dr. Satish Kumar is a young researcher and a keen academician. He is captivated by technology oriented innovative concepts and always looks ahead to execute interdisciplinary projects. He has his expertise in application of Artificial Intelligence into a variety of crucial manufacturing processes, including quality enhancement, process improvement, and optimization. He is now working on several industrial 4.0 initiatives, including digital twin smart manufacturing, remaining usable life estimation, and others. He has authored more than 30 Scopus/WoS indexed international/national journal and conferences publications. He has recently published a patent on “Micro-oxidation Coating device”. He is also currently editing Taylor & Francis CRC Pressbook titled "Industry 4.0 in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs): Opportunities, Challenges, and Solutions." He has completed various research funded proposals at Symbiosis International Deemed University and is also currently working on two research proposals “Inferring quality and fault localization of 3D printer products using Digital twin” and “Artificial Intelligence-based fault detection in bearing using vibration and sound sensor”. One student was recently awarded PhD. under his supervision and is currently guiding 5 Ph.D. research scholars.
Dr. Satish Kumar is also an expert reviewer on board for IEEE Access, Silicon, PeerJ Computer Science Surface Topography: Metrology and Properties, Material Research Express and other reputed journals. Dr. Pooja Kamat, Associate Faculty, SCAAI

Dr. Pooja Vinayak Kamat is an Associate Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Symbiosis International (Deemed) University, Pune.
With over 15 years of teaching and research experience, her work spans applied AI, deep learning, predictive maintenance, computer vision, and explainable AI. She has published 45+ Scopus/SCI-indexed papers, serves as a reviewer for leading international journals, and has led funded research and consultancy projects including DRDO-sponsored work.
She is actively involved in Ph.D. supervision, curriculum design, industry-academia collaboration, and institutional branding initiatives.
